Governance at Arete Lyceum provides strategic leadership and oversight that recognises the unique educational, social, and emotional needs of gifted learners. The governing body sets clear strategic direction, ensures compliance and financial sustainability, and upholds evidence-based practice. Through ethical decision-making and informed stewardship, governance supports an environment in which gifted students are able to thrive.
The governing body is composed of directors whose collective knowledge, skills, and experience in governance and education enable effective oversight of the organisation and its core business of education. Together, they bring a depth of expertise that supports sound decision-making and strong governance practice.
Eric Stein (Chair)
Eric Stein has over 10 years of experience in corporate growth and development, along with skills in higher education strategic planning and implementation. A strong business analyst, Eric has implemented a range of technical and business solutions to support a wide variety of organisations’ needs and has a track record of maximising opportunities through improved operations and communication. Eric brings a vast knowledge of business success, education support (pedagogical development, curriculum, and leadership), and IT driven innovation.
Rebekah Miller
Rebekah Miller joins the Board of Arete Lyceum as Secretary and inaugural Parent Representative. She brings over 20 years’ experience as a finance and administration specialist, with strong expertise in data entry, record keeping, and the preparation of business and financial reports.
Rebekah is the parent of a gifted child who will attend Arete Lyceum, and her advocacy is grounded in lived experience. She is deeply motivated by the need for gifted children to be genuinely seen and heard—not simply taught at—within educational environments that understand their complexity, intensity, and individuality.
Her combined professional skill set and parent perspective provide valuable insight into governance, compliance, and community voice. Rebekah’s contribution strengthens the Board’s commitment to ethical stewardship, transparency, and the creation of a school culture that partners meaningfully with families in support of gifted learners.
Dr Lesley Henderson
Dr Henderson is a Gifted Education Consultant working in Adelaide, South Australia. Formerly the coordinator of the Gifted Education specialisation at Flinders University for 17 years, Dr Henderson has also been a past President of the Australian Association for the Education of the Gifted and Talented (AAEGT), an Australian delegate to the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC), an external member of the Education Committee of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) and served on a number of Boards in a voluntary capacity. She has been a leader of professional learning in Gifted Education, recently working with the Ministry of Education in Malaysia. Dr Henderson has for many years conducted research, published widely, presented papers at international, national and state conferences, and held a number of advisory positions within educational organisations.
Dr Virginia Kinnear
Dr Virginia Kinnear is a qualified early childhood teacher who has lectured in initial teacher education courses in Universities in Australia for 20 years. Her initial degree was in law, and she worked as a solicitor for 10 years before qualifying and working in Montessori education (3-6 years) when she lived in the USA. Virginia’s PhD focused on young children’s statistical reasoning and her key research interests remain in early years mathematics learning and teaching, reasoning, and the dispositions that support children’s intellectual engagement. As a parent of a child with high intellectual potential, Virginia also understands the critical role that educational experiences play in how a child comes to understand who they are and how they learn.

As well as Dr. Lesley Henderson and Dr. Virginia Kinnear, we can now announce two new partnerships:
Dr. David Moltow graduated with degrees in Philosophy and English Literature. Dr Moltow trained as a Moral Philosopher at the University of Tasmania. He has taught Ancient Greek and Medieval Philosophy, Political Philosophy, and Philosophy of Law, and in the Faculty of Education specialises in the teaching of Critical Thinking, Philosophy of Education, and Education Ethics. He has and continues to supervise a number of Honours, Masters and Doctoral research projects in the College of Arts, Law and Education. Aligned with his academic work, Dr Moltow has been retained as a consultant to local, state and federal government agencies to provide advice and educational support in relation to a range of matters concerning critical decision making, policy analysis, ethics and ethical decision making, organisational values, and learning development.
Dr. Moltow’s recent work has been to develop and evaluate a Critical Learning Disposition cultivation program in early primary settings. This is the work that under pins the foundational values and learning dispositions of Arete Lyceum.
